College Officers
Emmanuel is governed by a Master & Body of Fellows, following College Statutes. The Fellowship are made up of our academic teachers & researchers and Tutors, all currently working in the University, or retired.
Master
The head of the College chairs the Governing Body. All Full Fellows are, by statute, members of the Governing Body until 30 September in the year in which they reach the age of 70. There are currently 78 members of the Governing Body (11 Full Fellows have reached the age of retirement from the Governing Body).
Vice-Master
Deputises for the Master when necessary, & on certain specific occasions.
College Council
A Committee of 12 Fellows: Master, Vice-Master, Bursar, Senior Tutor & 8 Fellows elected by the Governing Body. College Council deals with much of the formal business of the College & all reports from College Committees. Students & staff attend, & contribute for part of the Council's meetings. The members of the College Council are our Charity Trustees.
Senior Tutor
Has overall responsibility for the education & welfare of Emmanuel students.
Bursar
The senior financial & administrative officer of the College, and Executive Officer of the College Council.
Postgraduate Tutor
Assistant Postgraduate Tutors
Tutor for Admissions in Arts
Responsible for organising & coordinating the selection of students who apply to College in Arts subjects.
Financial Tutor
Tutors
Have responsibility of the welfare & wellbeing of individual students, and their general progress in College. They will not direct or supervise the student, or be a specialist in their subject.
Tutors are always available to meet & support their students throughout their time at College. Regular meetings are also arranged at the start & end of each term.
