Consulting the Collections

The library’s manuscripts and rare books are available for consultation by scholars and PhD students by appointment only and upon presentation of a letter of introduction from an individual’s academic institution, and in the case of PhD students from the supervisor of their dissertation.


Appointments must be booked in advance at least 10 days in advance of the visit and can be made by contacting the College Librarian (e-mail:, or tel. 01223 (3)34233). Readers’ places are limited and therefore visitors are requested to inform the College Librarian if they are unable to keep their appointment.

Appointments may be made on week-days only (subject to staff availability) and between the following times (times may vary):

  • 09:00 – 12:00
  • 13:30 – 16:00
