Dr Daniel Popa

MSc, PhD
Bye-Fellow
Affiliated Lecturer in Engineering
Daniel is an Affiliated Lecturer in the Engineering Department. He studied for his MSc, in Electronics, at University of Rome "Tor Vergata", and for his PhD, in Photonics, at Pembroke College, Cambridge.
Daniel's interests lie broadly in the field of Photonics and Nanotechnology. He is particularly interested in research and applications of atomically thin materials. These materials have remarkable electrical, optical, thermal and mechanical proprieties, with numerous applications in electronics, optoelectronics, photonics and biology. In his research, Daniel uses nanomaterials to design and develop photonic devices, such as lasers, optical switches and modulators.
