Accommodation

At Emmanuel College, all undergraduate students are offered accommodation for the entirety of their degree.

Rent is charged in three 10-week blocks, aligned with term dates. Students who wish to stay in residence outside of term may do so for an additional charge.

Your rent includes:

• Laundry service
• Cleaning
• Heating and electricity
• Basic contents insurance
• Wi‑Fi connectivity

We share information about accommodation options with offer holders and confirmed students in the July before their October start. Students are then invited to submit their room preferences via an online form, which asks:

• Their preferred room
• Whether room grade or location is more important
• If they require any adjustments to their room

While we always aim to meet preferences, we are unable to guarantee first-choice rooms, as some room types are particularly oversubscribed.

South Court is located between Chapman’s Garden and Tyler’s Garden on the southern side of the College site. Rooms overlook Fiona’s Café, and there are study spaces on the ground floor. Some staircases also include Fellows’ studies and college offices.

Rooms are mainly Grades 2–4, with a limited number of Grades 1, 5 and 6 available in newer buildings. South Court is arranged in both traditional staircases (Grades 1–4) and newer corridor-style halls of residence (Grades 5 and 6).

All rooms have access to bathroom facilities (either ensuite or shared) and kitchenette spaces.

North Court is located on the northern side of the College and is connected to the main site via the underpass. It is home to students from all years of study, with some staircases reserved for first years. Some staircases also include Fellows’ studies.

North Court consists of seven traditional Cambridge-style staircases, each with between 8 and 35 rooms. Rooms vary in size and are available in Grades 2–6.

All rooms have access to shared bathroom and kitchenette facilities on their floor.
