Studying with Us
Emmanuel's personal approach to teaching starts when we select our students and continues throughout their degree. Our teaching Fellows, usually at least one per subject, support a wide range of courses, and they work with the University faculties and departments to arrange teaching. All our students have a Director of Studies (known as a 'DoS', pronounced "doss"), who researches their subject. They are there to support and direct your academic progress over the degree course (called a 'Tripos').
How we teach
College teaching is arranged through small–group teaching known as 'supervisions'. These are set up by your DoS and can be with them or another researcher/expert in your subject. In these, you will be joined by up to three Emmanuel students in your subject year group. Terms of teaching and exams are usually eight weeks long. During term time, you will need to prepare for lectures, supervisions, and seminars. You will also do your personal study for essays and projects. You will also be expected to complete reading, research, revision, and other work during the vacations.

Funding
We can offer some financial assistance during your time at Emmanuel via our college–based funds. These are submitted via your Tutor or Director of Studies, and the Master and Tutors meet regularly during term to review and decide on applications. We can offer support in unexpected circumstances, for some course–related and subject–specific expenses, and extracurriculars.
