Each year we are able to offer a number of scholarships to Harvard University. This is thanks to the generosity of the late Dr Herchel Smith.
About the Scholarships
The Scholarships are tenable for one or two years. They run from September, in the year following its award. This includes return fares to the USA, a living allowance, travel in the US, tuition expenses & health insurance.
Application is open to all members of Emmanuel, whether currently resident in the College or not. Your first degree must have been completed no more than 5 years & 6 months before the date the scholarship is taken, or the date it will be completed by. The degree can be at Cambridge or elsewhere.
Although the Scholarships provide financial support, they do not carry any guarantee of a place on any course at Harvard. The award is made subject to acceptance for your proposed course. Before application, you should explore the courses available at Harvard. Details of the course you wish to take must be in your application.
Those applying for a one-year Scholarship usually apply for 'special student' status in the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. They can also be used for one & two year courses which lead to Master's degrees. They are not available for those intending to study for a PhD or for post–doctoral research.
Applications should be made via the form below, and you must name two or three referees. Your references & application form should reach the Master's PA — Michele Anderson — by the closing date (see below). Referees should send their references directly.
