September Access Bus (Essex)

Every September we spend a week in Essex visiting schools, accompanied by a band of wonderful student ambassadors (or EMMbassadors, as we call them) who are often from the area and sometimes even the very schools we visit.

Striking at the beginning of the academic year, we love visiting schools in September to ensure that pupils and teachers are aware from the get go of the numerous opportunities available to them over the course of the academic year to engage with us and the wider University of Cambridge. We also do some crucial groundwork, getting students thinking early about Higher Education and important impending decisions such as A Level choices.

The emphasis however is very much on our ambassadors, who share their experiences via presentations on student life. With younger pupils, this might take the form of a more generic presentation to raise aspirations and to get young minds excited about the prospect of pursuing Higher Education. With older pupils, the content becomes more Oxbridge-specific and aids in helping them see Oxbridge as a viable and not-so-scary option for undergraduate study.
