Stefano is one of our College Research Associates, and is based at the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge as a Research Associate.
BIOGRAPHY
Stefano Bannò is a Research Associate at Cambridge University’s Institute for Automated Language Teaching and Assessment (ALTA) and Machine Intelligence Lab (Department of Engineering), specialising in automated language assessment, learner-oriented feedback, and spoken grammatical error correction. Stefano has presented at major NLP and speech conferences and workshops, such as Interspeech, ICASSP, SLT, COLING, SLaTE, and BEA. He won a SLaTE Best Paper Award in 2023 and was a finalist for the 2024 Jacqueline Ross TOEFL Dissertation Award. Beyond academia, Stefano has experience as a professional musician and secondary school teacher.
