Dr Shay Melamed

Shay is one of our College Research Associates, based at the Gurdon Institute and Cambridge Stem Cell Institute as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

BIOGRAPHY

Shay is a Herchel Smith postdoctoral research fellow jointly supervised by Prof. Benjamin Simons (Gurdon Institute) and Dr. Maria Alcolea (Cambridge Stem Cell Institute). Their research focuses on the extracellular matrix (ECM) mechanobiology of early epithelial tumours, aiming to uncover the mechanisms that drive tumour initiation and early progression. She investigates how ECM remodelling influence tumour cell behaviour and microenvironment interactions. Her work contributes to a deeper understanding of early-stage tumour dynamics, with potential implications for developing novel therapeutic strategies.
