Stories from Emma Entrepreneurs: Hannah Bryson-Jones (2014), Founder and Director, Delta H

Hannah is the founder and director of Delta H, a London-based consultancy specialising in hydrogen, energy storage, and green chemicals. Since 2020, she has worked as the secretariat and spokesperson to the H2Accelerate collaboration on hydrogen trucking in Europe, supporting members bp, Daimler Truck, Iveco Group, Linde, Shell, TEAL Mobility, TotalEnergies, and Volvo Group to acquire over €70m of funding for the deployment of hydrogen trucks and refuelling stations.

Her work on hydrogen mobility has led her to serve as an expert on DG Move’s Sustainable Transport Forum Sub-Group on hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, leading the development of recommendations on the financing of hydrogen refuelling stations for Member States.

She previously worked as a Principal Consultant on the hydrogen team at Element Energy, where she led in the development of large-scale European hydrogen deployment projects. Hannah holds a master’s in Chemical Engineering from Emmanuel College.

About the series

Stories from Emma Entrepreneurs brings together members of the college with experience in founding, or working closely with, start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures. Each of these hour-long online sessions sees a member share the highs and lows of their entrepreneurial journeys, and the work of their current venture, followed by a lively Q&A.

Whether you're a seasoned entrepreneur or just interested to learn more about the work of fellow Emma members, you'll enjoy this series.

Emmanuel College (from 3:30pm on the Saturday)

This year's March Gathering saw us welcome back members who matriculated in 1984, 1985 and 1986 for a reunion weekend.

Those in attendance enjoyed a delicious dinner and the chance to catch up and share memories, as well as taking the opportunity to visit the college's new developments, together with the Boathouse, Library and College Museum.

Members joined Marek Sirendi (2012) online for a session about his entrepreneurial journey. Marek leads AI/ML model development and the 0-to-1 scaling of Clarium’s AI products. He is an entrepreneur, MIT Innovators Under 35 honoree, and a researcher looking to improve healthcare with technology.

6:00pm – Queen's Building Lecture Theatre, Emmanuel College

The 18th Annual International Intellectual Property Lecture was delivered by Robert P Merges, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Professor of Law and Technology at UC Berkeley School of Law. The title of Professor Merges' lecture was 'Cousins, Not Twins: Patent Claim Scope vs The Breadth of Patent Enforcement'.

Bach: St John Passion

Bach: St John Passion

5:00pm – Emmanuel College Chapel

On the final Sunday of the Lent Term, the College Choir was joined by Cambridge Baroque Camerata and Simon Wall (Evangelist) for a performance of one of Bach’s great masterpieces, with other solo roles being taken up by members of the choir.

Written in his first days as Director of Music at St Thomas's, Leipzig, the St John Passion is the earliest of the surviving Bach Passions, recounting the 18th and 19th chapters of the Gospel of John, the biblical passage traditionally read on Good Friday.

Burnaby Recital: Newe Vialles

6:15pm – Emmanuel College Chapel

The Viol Consort Newe Vialles perform works featured on their latest recording, which was released in November 2024.

Distinguished by its unique core sound, the group aims to engage with aspects of performance practice such as rhythmic flexibility and improvised ornamentation, resulting in a performance style that is both vibrant and engaging to the modern listener, and faithful to the vivid rhetoric of the music itself. Their interest in the rejuvenation of the viol consort tradition has resulted in two world premieres of music for viols by Jocelyn Campbell (2016) and Giles Swayne (2017).

Travel Writers Walking Tour with Lucinda Hawksley

Lucinda Hawksley, author and art historian, led a walking tour of London that immersed members into the world of travel writing. The walk took place around a square mile of Bloomsbury, and was followed by our twice-yearly London Drinks event in Holborn.

Stories from Emma Entrepreneurs: Miguel Camargo (2003), Senior Commercialisation Advisor, NobleReach Emerge

Members joined Dr Luiz Miguel Camargo (2003), a Senior Commercialisation Advisor at NobleReach Emerge, for an online session. Miguel has helped translate cutting-edge government-funded research into the commercial sector, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and biotech projects.

With over 20 years of experience in drug discovery, he has held positions at companies such as Merck, Novartis, and UCB, contributing to areas such as translational medicine, target and biomarker discovery, and phenotypic screening.

Miguel earned his PhD in bioinformatics from Emmanuel and has several publications in leading journals.

Members who read Medicine at Emmanuel gathered for a special evening of dinner and conversation. Dr Richard Barnes, Life Fellow and former University Senior Lecturer in Physiology and Director of Studies, delivered the after-dinner speech.

Nick is Founder of Algenie, an algae biotech company developing economically viable, scalable algae production for a range of industries. Nick's vision is to introduce algae, which captures twice its weight in carbon dioxide as it grows, as a mainstream component in products like fuel, plastics and building materials.
