Mendelssohn's Nos. 3 & 5 at the Southbank Centre: Concert, exclusive tour and reception

5:30pm – Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 8XX

The Emmanuel Society invites you to a very special evening of music at London’s Southbank Centre.

Following the sell-out success of its Beethoven Piano Concerto series in 2022, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment reunites with Sir András Schiff for an immersive journey through the quintet of masterworks that spanned Mendelssohn’s tragically short life.

Over this evening event, you’ll enjoy Mendelssohn's Symphonies No. 3 and No. 5, known as Scottish and Reformation respectively, performed on period instruments.

Before the performance starts, you'll be treated to an exclusive tour with Harry Hickmore (2011), Development Director at the OAE, giving you a fascinating look at the Orchestra, programme and historical context. Following the tour, you'll enjoy a Champagne Reception with fellow members before taking your seats.

Tickets for this event are priced at £65, which includes a drink before the performance. Members are welcome to bring a guest along for the evening.

This event is now closed to new bookings.

Entrepreneurs' Workshop with Anthony Newman (1991)

6:00pm – Online, via Zoom

Join us for May's Entrepreneurs' Workshop with Anthony Newman (1991). Anthony is the founder of ape2o, a sustainable water brand. Anthony will talk about his personal journey with ape2o – sharing lessons on coming up with an idea, researching it, building a team, preparing for fund-raising, launching, gaining traction and staying motivated all the way through that journey. Hopefully some lessons and tips that might help budding founders on their journeys.

About the speaker

Anthony Newman started out working 10 years in the music and media industries after Cambridge, then got involved in the drinks industry – starting in functional soft drinks in UK in 2005, then building a microbrewery in Queensland Australia which ran for 7 years. Then since 2015 he has been developing the sustainable water brand ape2o which launched in 2019. It was inspired by the damage done to marine fauna by ocean plastics. ape2o has been gaining traction ever since, providing a circular alternative on-the-go to single use plastic water bottles.
