Brewer Hall Poetry Prize
Emmanuel's Brewer Hall Prize is awarded for original poem(s) in English. The competition takes place annually & was endowed by A R Hall, in honour of Professor Derek Brewer.
The Prize — a grant of £500 — is awarded for a collection of original poems in English, of not more than 200 lines. It is open to under– & postgraduate members of the University, of not more than three years standing. A shared prize may be awarded; it will not be awarded twice to the same person.
Selections from the winning poem(s) are printed in the Emmanuel College Magazine.
Entry Requirements
- Prize entries should be anonymous.
- Entrants' name should not be on the poems.
- The collection should be typed & single–spaced.
- Each entry should be identified by a motto.
Submission Requirements
- Physical — rather than electronic — copies of entrants' work should be entered.
- Entries should be accompanied by a sealed envelope, marked with the motto [not the entrants' name].
- This envelope must contain the entrant’s name & contact details (College, email address, telephone number).
- The entries should be addressed c/o Brewer Hall Poetry Prize Panel, Emmanuel College, Cambridge, CB2 3AP.
- Please post or deliver entries to the Emmanuel College Porters' Lodge.
Deadlines & Information
- The deadline for entries this year is Friday 24 June.
- Winners will be contacted by email, on or before Friday 8 July.
