Dr Isaac Nakhimovsky

Dr Isaac Nakhimovsky

Research Fellow; PhD

Isaac has studied at Harvard and Cambridge. His interests focus on the history of eighteenth-century political thought. He is especially interested in understanding Enlightenment perspectives on the moral and political character of market society and a world of competitive states. He has worked extensively on St. Pierre's peace project and on Voltaire and Frederick the Great's Antimachiavel (1740), and has published articles on Vattel's Law of Nations and on the moral thought of Jacques Abbadie. Isaac's doctoral dissertation examined Johann Gottlieb Fichte's Closed Commercial State (1800), and he is beginning to work with Béla Kapossy of the University of Lausanne on a new edition and translation of Fichte's Addresses to the German Nation for the Hackett Publishing Company.
