Our History of Excellence
Emmanuel College hosts a wide range of events including weddings, conferences, dinners and summer parties for businesses, arts organisations, charities, academics and last, but by no means least, the general public. Those taking the opportunity to stay in the College include long standing Summer Schools and a variety of business and corporate clients. The University of Richmond Law School has been coming to Emmanuel for over 30 years and Oxford Study Courses have based their Cambridge programme at the College for the last ten years. We are delighted to be hosting the Cambridge Early Music Summer School for the first time in the summer of 2012.
Recent clients coming to Emmanuel College for conferences include the Ministry of Defence, the Arup Engineering Group, BP and Microsoft. Amongst our regular Cambridge clients are the Judge Business School, the Isaac Newton Institute, Cambridge Journals and Cambridge Angels.
The magnificent dining Hall can seat up to 135 and the atmospheric Old Library up to 100 and as our reputation grows for first class private dining we are the chosen venue for a range of local dining and lunch clubs. Prestigious clients dining with us include the RAF Oxford & Cambridge Club, the Knights of Malta and the IXth Bomber Squadron.
As well as a strong relationships with businesses both local and national we have an association with a number of arts organisations: the annual Anglian Potters' Association Summer Exhibition takes place each year in the Old Library and the Cambridge Film Festival's screenings in our Queen's Building Lecture Theatre are extremely popular. On a smaller scale, we encourage private individuals to book with us for celebratory lunches and dinners for family and friends, using the Fellows Breakfast Room or Robert Gardner Room for a traditional College experience. Award winning menus and attentive service are designed to make your day special.
Every event, large or small, is treated with the same care and attention to detail – we aim to make your time at Emmanuel truly memorable. The beautiful architecture of the College and wonderful gardens provide a superb setting so why not call us and see what we can do to make your event special?
DINING
The College has built an excellent reputation amongst businesses and within the University for its fine dining. Whether a corporate business dinner or a family celebration, our menus cater for a wide variety of tastes and styles and the College wine cellar is legendary. Whether your event is a small, intimate meal for a special occasion in the beautiful Fellows' Breakfast Room or a banquet in our magnificent, panelled Hall with its oak benches, you will find food of the highest quality and the service impeccable.
WEDDINGS
Emmanuel College is a very special venue for a wedding. Front Court, with the magnificent Wren chapel, is amongst the most beautiful in Cambridge and the tranquil gardens provide a matchless location for drinks and photographs. The secluded spot in the Paddock by the duck pond and ‘The Jester’ sculpture overlooking the Fellows' Garden is reserved for wedding parties or alternatively Chapman’s Gardens, where Hobson’s Conduit flows peacefully beneath a willow tree may be used.
THE QUEEN'S BUILDING
Voted ‘Building of the Year’ when it was opened, The Queen’s Building houses our impressive, tiered, 130 seat Auditorium. There are three additional rooms which can be used as break out rooms or for serving refreshments.
PUBLIC ROOMS
The number and variety of public rooms within the College makes it possible to offer a range of facilities from small day meetings for six delegates to 130 seated in the Queen’s Building Auditorium. Outside term residential facilities are available in study bedrooms. There is a diverse range of meeting rooms, from the contemporary Queen’s Building to the Regency splendour of Camden House. The medieval Old Library retains the original open timber screen of what was once the old College Chapel.
Just as important as the central location are the amenities, food and service to which the College attaches great importance. Some of the venues may be 17th century, but the audio visual equipment offers the latest in technology.
ACCOMMODATION
The College has a wide variety of accommodation available within the historic College grounds ranging from single standard rooms to brand new en-suite bedrooms.
Outside of Term we will consider bookings for groups of 10 or more.
