Sad news

The College is sorry to announce that Professor Peter Richards (1954), Honorary Fellow, died on 29 September. A memorial service will be held in Great St Mary's Church on Saturday 28 January at 2.30pm. All are welcome.

Election for the Office of Chancellor - Results

Lord Sainsbury has been elected Chancellor of Cambridge University. He received 52% of the votes from a total of 5558. Brian Blessed came second, with 1389 votes, followed by Michael Mansfield with 964 votes and Abdul Arain with 312 votes.

The winning streak continues

Once again our College Chefs have excelled themselves in this year's Cambridge University Chef's Competition. After many hours of hard work and preparation, they brought back an incredible seven medals, including two golds, four silvers and one bronze. Unfortunately they narrowly missed out on the Steward's Cup, coming runners-up to Clare College.

The Wilberforce Wanderettes: calling all ex-Panthers in London

Some Emmanuel Members are setting up a women's football team for ex Pink Panthers (Emma's women's team) in London. Initially, the team will organise informal football sessions in a London park at the weekends, and hope to progress to joining a 5- or 11-a-side league in the future. If you are interested, please email Lindsay Solera-Deuchar (lindsay.soleradeuchar@gmail.com), or alternatively, join the Facebook group, here. All levels of skill and commitment are welcome. Interested Emma Members who didn't play with the Panthers are also welcome.

Gathering of Members

Invitations for the next Gathering of Members (for matriculation years 1949 and earlier), which is to be held on 31 March and 1 April 2012, have been sent out. The Gathering in September (22/23) is for 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960 matriculants and invitations will be sent out in June. For more information contact gatheringofmembers@emma.cam.ac.uk.

Chapel Choir Reunion

A reunion of Emmanuel Chapel Choir will take place on Sunday 29 April 2012. The choir is going from strength to strength under Richard Latham (organ scohlar 1997-2000), who is currently serving as Director of Chapel Music, and under our two organ scholars July Verkade and George Lacey, and will just be back from a tour to Italy. There will be Evensong at the usual time of 6pm, and we hope that many former members of the Choir will be able to come, join in the singing for part of the service (for which there will be a rehearsal at 4pm), and join Fellows and students for dinner in Hall. Guests are very welcome. Former organ scholars are also very welcome. Unfortunately we do not have contact details for many of those who sang as Choral Volunteers (i.e. who were not students at Emmanuel): we would be very grateful if you would let Adam Wilkinson in the Development Office have them so we can write and invite them too. To book for this reunion, please download the booking form, here, or contact the Development Office. The closing date is Friday 13 April.

Many entries on the database are now out of date: to update your entry or to join the register, please visit www.emma.cam.ac.uk/careers.
