Choir Tour 2013: Prague
In March 2013 the choir spent a very cold but enjoyable week on tour in Prague.
Our tour began with mass at Sacred Heart Church, a modern and industrial- looking church with giant metal baubles hanging from the ceiling. The next day we took the train to Plzen, and after going on a tour of their famous brewery, we sang a concert at St Bartholomew’s Cathedral. In the next few days we sang mass at St Ignatius Church in Charles Square, enjoyed singing in the exquisite acoustics of the Czech Museum of Music, and explored the ancient town of Kutna Hora and its rather macabre ossuary. Our final day of singing was a hectic one, with three engagements in one day. We sang at the Eucharist service at St Clement’s Anglican Church, then after a brief stop for cake to celebrate a choir member’s birthday, we sang Mass at St Saviour’s Church near Charles Bridge, and then ended the tour with a concert in the beautiful Basilica of St Peter & St Paul in the historical hill fort of Vysehrad.
Our final day in Prague was spent exploring Prague castle before going out for our traditional end-of-tour meal.
