The following notes give a brief overview of the application process for candidates to Cambridge, with further details for those applying to Emmanuel College.
IMPORTANT: All correspondence will be emailed to applicants, so it is very important that you check your inbox (including your junk email inbox) frequently during the application and interview period. If you email us, please state your full name, subject and UCAS personal ID number.

- Monday 22 October 2012: deadline for submission of the online Supplementary Application Questionnaire (SAQ).
- Monday 24 September – Monday 29 October inclusive: applicants to Emmanuel will receive an acknowledgement email from the Admissions Officer.
- Acknowledgement Pack: applicants will be requested to download and complete various documents, e.g., data protection declaration form, Winter Pool contact details, disability adjustments and allowances form and subject documents, including essay cover sheets (see below for further information). The documents will have deadline dates, which applicants are asked to adhere to, in order not to delay the admissions process.
- Samples of Written Work (Essay Cover Sheets): candidates are asked not to submit any written work, prior to their application being acknowledged by the College, as they will need to download an essay cover sheet to complete and attach to each piece of work.
In most cases, you will be asked to send in one or two essays, which you have written as part of your normal preparation for public examinations (A-level or equivalent). If you are not studying your chosen degree subject at A-level, or equivalent, you should send in work from another essay-based subject. The preferred word limit for the essay samples is 2,000 words. Applicants may submit coursework, but this will only count for one piece of work, regardless of the length. If the work you wish to submit exceeds the word limit, please note that due to time constraints, it may not be possible for the Director of Studies to read beyond 2,000 words. For applicants, who are not taking any essay-based subjects, please email the Admissions Officer, once your application has been acknowledged.
